Area Highlights
Western corridor traffic is the worst zone — do a trial commute before signing. Use ORR Node 1 (Banjara/Jubilee Hills) or Node 2 (Gachibowli/FD); travel before 8:30am or after 9:30pm.
Arrive Oct-Nov for Hyderabad's finest season. Summers (Mar-Jun, 38-40C) are hot but dry; verify full AC, DG power backup and no water-shortage history before leasing.
Live in the western belt
Jubilee/Banjara Hills (families, prestige), Gachibowli/HITEC City (zero commute), Kondapur/Manikonda (best value, 25-35% cheaper rent).
Biryani is a social rite
Paradise (milder, Secunderabad), Bawarchi (spicier, only the RTC X Roads original is real), Shadab near Charminar, Shah Ghouse for late nights.
Set up UPI (PhonePe/GPay) once your bank account is live — used everywhere from biryani joints to autos. Keep both Ola and Uber; never hail street cabs.
Never drink tap water
Ask if supply is HMWSSB or borewell and whether there's a building RO. Low-lying Himayatnagar, Falaknuma and parts of Kukatpally flood in the Aug-Sep monsoon.
